Are you considering taking a ceramic clay class but don’t want to commit to an extended period of weekly classes and open studio time? One Day Clay could be for you. During ODC class, expect to complete one piece of artwork each Tuesday. Or not! Sometimes people just want to get their hands dirty with experimentation. The best part about this class is that it is designed to be a laidback, no pressure to produce session. People can come one day, two days, or all nine days during a session and will not miss out on instruction from a previous class.
In each class, participants will receive 2 pounds of clay to work with. Additional clay can be purchased if needed. Two pounds of clay will make one medium-sized slab structure or two clay mugs. All clay at HAEC needs to be our in-house studio clay; no outside clay is permitted. Basic hand tools will also be provided.
The session will focus on a mix of beginner’s hand-built and wheel-thrown exercises. The curriculum is set, and a daily project will be presented, but participants can choose how they spend their time in the studio. This is not a class designed for experienced ceramicists.
All pieces will be completely fired and ready by the last class in the session for take-home. Works created during ODC sessions can be donated to the HAEC Arts Included Gallery consignment, to support future programming.
