Printmaker, Katy Strass, invites you to the HAEC workshop studios to create handmade prints and obtain a collection of other artist’s prints. Participants will learn about the history of printmaking and explore different print mediums with the instructor. For their project, attendees will be using a linoleum printing plate used to transfer images and text to the surface being printed on.
People participating in the project will produce a one-of-a-kind linoleum printing plate. Plates will be hand printed on paper in a series of 5-inch by 7-inch images. All prints are created using recognized fine art print technique with archival materials. All materials are provided.
How the exchange works:
The series of prints produced at this workshop will consist of 13 prints per person to be submitted. HAEC will keep two prints; the first for exhibition and archives; the second for sale to fund future projects. The remaining 11 prints are distributed to each participant in the print exchange. People participating will receive 2 copies of their own printed piece and 9 other unique pieces of fine art from their peers.
Katy is an artist and director of the Huntington Arts & Entrepreneurial Center. Printmaking became a passion during her studies as a Fine Art major at university. Printmaking is one of her favorite mediums because of its multifaceted nature. The medium encompasses many other forms of fine art which opens the door for endless creative license and innovation within the art field. Katy first participated in a print exchange during the Southern Graphic Council International Printmaking Conference in 2013. It’s a great way to give the gift of art and gain inspiration from others.
