Commissary Kitchen Concept

Small business owners have the opportunity to rent certified commercial kitchen areas at contracted rates. This membership is designed for businesses certified in food handling. Space is limited so the amount of on-site food storage compares to the level of membership selected. Scheduling is completed through an online system, is self-service, and monitored by arts center staff.

Future goals of the commercial kitchen is to offer professional development in the food industry in addition to the educational community workshops.

Product Photography

Collaborating with the Art Center’s digital photography lab to create professional images of culinary work for portfolios and advertising is an asset to be taken advantage of. Headshots for business development and resume building will also be offered.

Kitchen Requirements

  • All food businesses serving product/s to the public must acquire a food permit from the Huntington County Health Department and be certified as a ServSafe Food Handler by the National Restaurant Association.

  • All team members associated with food business membership are responsible for carrying out best practices of food handling, food storage, and maintaining clean workspaces.
  • Time in the kitchen must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance through the HAEC to eliminate overcrowding or avoid double booking during classes or workshop activities.
